Frequently Asked Questions

Unlike web hosting, a dedicated server is not shared. If you require a separate environment and dedicated performance at the same time, but you do not want to take care of the server, choose a managed server. Moreover, for managed servers we also provide 24x7 surveillance and proactive troubleshooting. Cloud servers can provide you dedicated performance and high availability at the same time.

The main difference is in the server management, called the administration. For a dedicated server, only operating system installation is included in the price. You have to take care of any additional software, backup, updates, etc. If you want to get rid of this responsibility, a managed server is a better choice for you. The main advantage of managed servers, in addition to the administration, is also monitoring by our 24x7 surveillance system and proactive troubleshooting if necessary. The service also always includes managed backup of server data to our backup servers.

Availability Monitoring is an additional service, which is, however, together with proactive response automatically included in every managed service, such as the managed server. We can monitor all kinds of services running on the server, from www to the RAID array. We offer the option to send notifications to the customer — email, jabber, sms, and add a note according to which our support will respond. Any changes in the setting of monitoring will be performed by our administrators at the customer's request.

Backup is automatically included in all managed services. For any other services, or if you do not yet have any services with us, we offer you different types of backup. Please take a look at our Managed Backup service for more information about backup options.

We monitor managed servers automatically, the customer is informed by our support in the event of service failure. And it does not end with monitoring; we respond to problems 24x7 and address them proactively. For other servers it is an additional service which we set up at the customer's request.

Yes. On your servers, you can run your own DNS, or use our DNS servers for free.

Resource Reservation Pools are computing assets (CPU, RAM, and Disk) that are allocated to a Virtual Data Center. Evolve IP assigns VMWare virtualization computing resources to each customer’s Virtual Data Center based on their selection in the order process.

Yes, IT Administrators have full control over the use of computing resources within their pool. There are no limitations on the density ratios (virtual machines-to-vCPU/RAM), however, you cannot over-provision hard disk. Evolve IP utilizes thick-provisioning standards on the platform for all storage resources. Virtual Data Center customers have the ability to over-subscribe their own resources up to the maximum amount of disk available in their purchased quota.

New Virtual Machines that are self-provisioned through the Data First become available for console access within 15 minutes.

Evolved Virtual Data Center has a standard Service Level Agreement garanteed for all core platform elements for uptime and availability.

The only time this is really an issue is if your website uses a database. This is because your web server and database server should always be in the same data center. Occasionally, the web server and database server could be placed in different data centers. This could lead to slowness on your site since it takes a little longer for the information to be retrieved from the other data center.

We offer 99.95% network and power uptime guarantee on all our dedicated servers.

In total, we have 500mbits of network connectivity for our Servers. We have 2×500 Mbps uplinks for our data center. Each Server in our data center is set up on 100 Mbps port, a fully- switched port on an edge switch. Each edge switch is then, in turn, plugged into two separate aggregation switches at 100mbit, with failover redundancy allowing either 100mbit link to fail.

Our plans are month-to-month, yearly, or two years. We make it simple to start — and stop — your service at any time.

Yes, we offer discounts on up-front long-term commitments.

No. All of our plans include our fully-managed cloud hosting, ensuring your website remains available at all times.

Our Support staff is based in our Data Center Facility itself and the workstation floor just below the datacenter. Support is offered 24×7 through live chat, phone, and email.

We offer cPanel/WHM and Plesk Control panel on our Linux Dedicated servers for additional pricing whilst on Windows servers we offer Plesk and DotNetPanel control panel options. You can install any other control panel as per your requirements but we won’t support those control panels. As a part of our managed service, we will provide support for OS related problems only if the control panel is not purchased through datafirst.

Bandwidth is the amount of data that is accessed while viewing a website. Every time a user views a website, data is transferred, and the measurement of that transfer is bandwidth. In general, images, audio files and video files are higher in bandwidth than text. That means that if you have a more burdensome website in terms of bandwidth – if you have lots of video or streaming audio

Disk space refers to the storage required to hold your website. Every single letter on your website has to be stored somewhere on your Web host's server. Each letter is one byte, and a megabyte is roughly 1 million bytes. HTML pages are usually very small, but images, scripts and databases can take up large amounts of disk space. Bandwidth/transfer is the amount of data the server will allow your site to transmit in a month. Transfer is usually measured in gigabytes, or billions of bytes.

A shared web hosting service is an agreement whereby each user gets a certain portion of total available resources. Multiple domains are hosted by the same server, which means that the server’s capabilities are split between multiple domains. This means that these websites will not experience as robust of performance as a website that has a dedicated server applying all of its resources solely to one website.
